Croeso... Welcome

listen to: Sweet Afton

My maiden name is Anglesey... pronounced angle-see.
It is also the name of an island off the coast of Wales.
Click & Learn about The Island Of Anglesey

I have been reading a bit about my heritage (one of the many branches, as I am Welsh, but also English, German, French, and Austrian) and I have a bug to visit Wales, as well as my husband's Switzerland and Denmark.
Helo. Shwmae? Krista Anglesey dwi.
Have you ever heard the welsh language? I am fascinated. It is nothing like the latin-based languages I connect with, and it sounds wonderfully magical. Click here for some samples.
Cerddoriaeth... Music
Listen to some song samples of traditional Welsh songs performed by Sian James. Listen to Dod dy Law and Y Ferch o Bedlam, then try Can Crwtyn y Gwartheg.
Breuddwydio...To Dream

I think it is good to have a dream of visiting a far off place with meaning. What is your dream?

I have often had the same thoughts. I think it is neat that our 2nd cousin stopped there on her way back from her mission, and was taken in by Angleseys on the island because her name was Anglesey. It was cool to hear the language, what interesting sounds! I'm glad I now know how to say..."Mae fy hofrenfad yn llawn o lyswennod" or "My hovercraft is full of eels".
ps- Love the song Sweet Afton - perfect.

Just before you were born, one of the nurses in the delivery room looked at my hospital bracelet, and said in a pretty English accent, "Anglesey... d'ya know that's a beautiful island off the coast of Wales?" I was happy to tell her that I did know, and that my husband's ancestry was Welsh. It was fun to hear Martha Anglesey speak that unusual ancient language for us.

Wales is the only part of the British Isles I cannot trace my ancestry back to. I'm bound and determined, though, that somehow I'll find a connection. I think "Men of Harlech" & "All Through the Night" are my favorite Welsh folk songs. Love!!
